About Dr. Riyad Rouf
Hello and welcome!
I specialize in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. I focus primarily on ADHD, depression, and anxiety. In this day and age, we all face incredible pressure to perform, accomplish certain goals, or achieve a certain status in society; whether at home, work, or school. On top of that, our modern way of socializing can make it difficult to find compassionate human connections for support, and make it easy to compare ourselves to others. This affects all of us and can lead to negative emotions, difficulty getting things done, a diminished sense of agency and self-worth, and feelings of dread. Some of us are particularly sensitive to this because of undiagnosed mental health issues. In the past, asking for help for these issues has been difficult or discouraged. My goal is to make it easier for you to get the help you need.
I’m passionate about empowering people to achieve their best and overcome self-doubt. I hope to help my patients gain a better understanding about themselves, their priorities, and how it all fits into the larger context of their lives.
My Treatment Approach
I developed my specific approach over years of training and experience. We all see how societal and cultural pressures affect mental health. Our current approach to healthcare doesn’t always adequately address these factors due to limitations in scope. For this reason, I offer holistic solutions from complementary disciplines and philosophies without deviating from the evidence-based standards of care where indicated. I prescribe conservatively. I use a direct, empowering, and solution-oriented approach to treatment. I believe in working together towards a shared vision of wellness
My Training
I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult Psychiatry, as well as in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I completed my Psychiatry Residency at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine. I completed my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School.
